This International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Globe reaffirms its commitment to fostering a workplace where every individual, regardless of ability, feels empowered to thrive.
Globe recently partnered with Project Inclusion Network (PIN), a trailblazing organization empowering businesses to create more accessible and inclusive work environments for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
A Shared Vision for Inclusivity
PIN’s mission aligns with Globe’s goal of championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) by breaking down workplace barriers and improving access to work opportunities for persons with disabilities.
“This contract signing will reinforce our commitment to providing equal opportunities for PWDs, ensuring they find a welcoming and supportive workplace here at Globe,” says Ato Jiao, Globe CHRO, at the contract signing event at The Globe Tower on November 11, 2024. Grant Javier, Project Inclusion Network (PIN) Executive Director, was also in attendance. “This partnership also opens the door to deeper insights into how we can further strengthen our DEI and enable each Ka-Globe to support each other better.”
Denise Haak, Assistant Vice President and Head of Product Design at Globe, says these promises will be integrated into Globe products that both customers and employees will use.
“First step is to make sure that the color contrasts in all designs will be perceived by people with color blindness or poor vision,” says Haak. “Additionally, we are incorporating haptic feedback for those who may not be able to read easily due to poor vision or dyslexia. We will be including iconography for those with dyslexia or poor literacy skills. We will also be adding closed captioning for all of our video material, and, finally, we will ensure to test our products not only with everyday Filipinos but also the everywhere Filipino.”
“Thank you once again for this opportunity and for hiring wonderfully, brilliantly different-abled people to join us at Globe,” adds Haak.
Empowering Every Ability
Through this collaboration, Globe is taking concrete steps to ensure that inclusivity is woven into the fabric of its workplace culture.
Employees across the organization have expressed their commitment to building an inclusive workplace:
Great accessible and inclusive product experiences for all Filipinos everywhere. — Denise, PEDG
Create a safe place for the differently-abled people to build their lives beyond their world and be part of the community where they can experience a sense of purpose. — Tinang, PEDG
…accepting and understanding our differences in abilities. Because knowing and saying things are only scratching the surface; we need to give each other grace and go deeper than that. — Anonymous
…celebrating each other’s different strengths! We know that everyone brings something unique to the table, and we want to ensure we give a platform for everyone’s abilities to shine. — Anonymous
Inclusive Co-Creation. At the center of co-creating experiences with employees is inclusive employee listening. We commit to ensuring that every study, FGD, survey, prototyping workshop, pilot run, and program launch is inclusive, which includes proper representation in every step of the employee experience design loop. — Mark, Human Resources
Building a Future Without Barriers
This partnership with PIN marks just the beginning of a journey to redefine what inclusion looks like at Globe. Beyond hiring practices, Globe is also working to enhance accessibility in its workplace and products, ensuring they are designed for everyone, including those with disabilities.
Together with PIN, Globe is committed to creating a future where individuals of all abilities can succeed and contribute meaningfully. On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we honor the contributions of PWDs and reaffirm our dedication to fostering workplaces that are inclusive, equitable, and empowering.
Let’s move beyond barriers — let’s redefine inclusion. #CreateEverydayPossibilities
